Cutting Edge Inc. (CEI) is one of EVE's premier corporations.

CEI was formed when EVE was still in beta. Once the game went gold in May 2003, our first CEO Killgorde pulled a number of members from the game DaoC who made up the first generation of pilots of CEI. The area of residence of Cutting Edge was then Fountain in the far West of the EVE universe. CEI were actually the first settlers of Fountain together with some other corps. Struggles for sovereignty over the region eventually led to the creation of the Fountain Alliance [FA], of which CEI was one of the first members, in summer of 2003. Towards the end of the year new recruitment efforts were made as a result of diminished numbers due to the state of the game.

The second generation of CEI arrived in early 2004, former squad mates from the game Jumpgate (JG). As a result CEI's direction changed to the PvP aspect of EVE. In April 2004, Cutting Edge and some other corporations got ejected from FA because of the desire of Xanadu (former powerhouse of EVE) to get more profit out of the region. CEI moved to Pure Blind and made friends with the Northern alliances Phoenix Alliance [PA], Coalition of Deklein [CoD], and Fade Union [FU]. In May 2004, CEI applied for membership of PA and was subsequently accepted into it after Cataclysm Enterprise (CE) decided to vouch for us and took the role of a mentor corporation.

About a month later the legendary ‘Great Northern War’ (GNW) started. It was a truly epic conflict in terms of how it was waged both on the forums and ingame, so to give an even remotely sensible overview of the time would go beyond the scope of this article. The fights raged everywhere for over a year with PA ultimately up against everyone else in the North. In the end, PA began to fall apart from the inside with a number of corporations leaving the alliance. When Cataclysm Enterprise resigned from PA, they went to claim Cloud Ring and settled there along with other German corporations from which [G] Alliance was subsequently formed. When CEI left PA in December 2004 we contacted our long time friend CE again and they welcomed us to Cloud Ring.

The new year 2005 saw CEI hanging around in Cloud Ring and doing daily raids in Syndicate, which was infested by pirates at the time. Cutting Edge became friends with JQ Alliance [JQA], residents of the JQ constellation in Syndicate, where Octavian Vanguard (OV) was one of the members. When in summer 2005 Bladerunners (Blade) left the Phoenix Alliance , they came to Pure Blind. Cutting Edge was subsequently contacted and left Syndicate for Pure Blind in the early autumn and settled down in 5ZXX-K, along with Blades. By then JQA had collapsed and OV was invited to the area.

September 23rd marked the birth of RAZOR alliance with Blades and CEI as its founding members and CEI as the executor. A week later, OV was accepted into the alliance. This is when work started to clear out Pure Blind and make sure 5ZXX-K turned into a major 0.0 space hub. The threesome turned into a (by now) five-some with Dark Angel Battalion’s (DAB) and Roving Guns (RG) acceptance into RAZOR at the end of February/beginning of March 2006.
