Clearing the cache and settings
How to clear your cache and settings foldersIn-game (All platforms)If you're able to start your EVE client then you can reset your cache and/or settings in-game by going to Settings (ESC), select Reset Settings tab and from there you can select to either Clear all settings or Clear all cache files. Please note that performing either of these will require you to restart your client. Before nuking your settings you should always try clearing the cache as that will solve most problems that can be solved this way! Out-of-game (Windows)First exit the game.
NB: Windows 7 uses the Windows Vista locations. Simply copy and paste the paths into the explorers address bar or into the field you get by Start-Run or Windows-Key + R. You can also clear your cache ingame, press ESC when logged in.
Select the Reset settings tab, under Reset to default press the Clear button behind Clear all cache files. Be aware that this won´t help if your settings are the cause of the problem. Out-of-game (Macintosh)The users preferences folder which has the cache and settings folder is created the first time the application is run. "/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/EVE Online" What data do I lose when clearing the cache and settings folders?CacheOnly cached data, which can be retrieved again from the server, are stored in the cache folder. The only exception is the Jukebox playlists which will be removed located under cache\Jukebox as .m3u files. SettingsAll your client-settings are stored in this folder, like video and audio settings, user defined shortcuts, window and overview settings and much more. This also includes the folder-structure for lists like notes, buddies, agents and bookmarks (but the items themselves are saved on the server). Overview/LogsEve's Logs, Capture and Fittings folders and Overview settings are saved in the following folders:
The Capture folder contains the Portraits folder which contains captured portraits of players from ingame. (Right click and save portrait from ingame.) The Overview folder contains XML files with your overview settings. (As long as you have exported them from the game.) Top Contributors For This Page |
