How long does it take to change my character portrait?

The character portrait swap process is an automated process which should not take more than a week to complete. To see your new portrait, you need to delete the portraits folder.

This folder can usually be found by pressing START>RUN and pasting the following 'path' into the open field:

WinXP: C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility

WinXP Steam: C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_steam_steamapps_common_eve_online_tranquility

Vista: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility

Vista Steam: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_steam_steamapps_common_eve_online_tranquility

Windows 7: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility

If you have installed the client in a different location than the default settings assume you should only input the following strings when you press START>RUN:

WinXP: C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\

WinXP Steam: C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\'

Vista: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\

Vista Steam: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\

Windows 7: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\'

Windows 7 64bit: 'C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\"

After opening this folder, "EVE", you should see a folder that is named the same thing as your chosen path, where the first letter is the hard drive letter and the subsequent names are the folder names divided by the underscore.

Until you delete these folders, your client will continue to show you the old portrait it has stored in the cache. Others in the game will see your new portrait however.

The forum avatars are updated automatically but it can take a few weeks to see the updated portrait on the forums.
