Arek'Jaalan: Talocan Technology
OverviewWelcome to the Talocan Technology department of the Arek'Jaalan Project. Our mission is to gather, analyze, categorize, store, and attempt to make sense of the technology the Talocan race has left behind. From what we have been able to ascertain thus far, we know that the Talocan were masters of Spatial Manipulation and hypereuclidian mathematics. It is speculated that were able to create wormholes at will, but this claim cannot be confirmed nor denied without further research. However, as space was explored further, Talocan relics have turned up not only in wormhole space, but their relics are also present in the Okkelen constellation in Caldari space most notably in Devil's Dig Site. In addition to the collection of Talocan relics, we are engaging in research to better understand how the technology worked in the first place by scanning, analyzing, probing, and even attempting to fit relics back into the structures and ships they may have come from. The path to knowledge is a long but fruitful one, and we will see to it that we get as much information and research out of this initiative as possible.
Research ProjectsTT maintains several research endeavors relating to the technological capabilities of Talocan, both directly and indirectly. As smaller, more basic projects progress, a greater understanding will allow the division to pursue grander, more complicated projects. Project DriveWhat is the purpose of the spines on the Talocan structures and ships? Which methods did the Talocan employ to travel through space? Project Drive has the expres purpose of examing the Polestars, Disruption Towers and the various abandoned Talocan vessels to uncover the answer to these questions. Project GatewayProject Gateway was created to closely examine the Talocan static gates up close. These structures hold important clues to the engineering capabilities of the Talocan and could hold the key to their firm grasp of spatial manipulation techniques that have long been rumoured to posses. Supplemental data on existing Hybrid Technologies, implicated technological baselines : Talocan Hybrid Technologies Talocan defensive systemsShieldsEvidence to date suggests the Talocan made heavy use of shields as part of their defensive systems. Evidence also suggests these systems were far more efficient than those in use currently by the Empires. Many of the ancient components that have been gathered from the Devil's Dig Site deadspace complex in the Otitoh system have been to increase the efficiency and overall capacities of shield modules. Examples include the Large 'Sheriff' Shield Extender and the Posse Invulnerability Field. Today they are still among the most advanced shield modules surpassed only by Tech 2 modules. It should be noted that these modules were created by merely integrating a few components that could be recovered. This could very well mean that actual shield systems by the Talocan were even more impressive. More evidence of the Talocan's knowledge of shield systems can be found in w-space. Caldari scientists turned to the Talocan structures when trying to engineer new and improved subsystems for the Tengu class strategic cruiser. They were able to recover parts of these systems and use them as a base for further improvements. This has led to the creation of the Tengu defensive "Amplification Node" subsystem. By examining these shield systems on the various outposts Caldari scientists also discovered that some of the Talocan outposts used what appears to be a harmony of both Talocan and Sleeper designs in their shield systems. This of course raises a few questions with a few possible answers as well. One explanation for the combination of both designs is that what the Caldari scientist identified as Sleeper design is in fact a Talocan design that the Sleepers reverse engineered and copied for their own purposes when they discovered the Talocan outposts. The Mirror enclaves mention the presence of a data archive of Talocan technologies suggesting they studied their technological capabilities in great details. It is entirely possible that the Sleepers did what we are currently doing with all we have discovered in w-space and salvaged these advanced systems to improve their own. Another explanation is that the Talocan and the Sleeper civilisation share a history of cooperation in some form or another. Whether these races had knowledge of each other before ending up in w-space or if they came across each other there is unknown, but the integration of both technologies could indicate an alliance of sorts where they shared information. Regardless of how and why this harmony of Talocan and Sleeper designs appears to exist, it is clear the Talocan used shield systems and by all indications these were at the very least on par with those currently in use by the Empires. CloakingIt is possible the Talocan possessed cloaking technology. The Talocan artifacts uncovered in Devil's Dig Site not only have use in the construction of shield modules but use in the construction of Cloaking devices as well. For example the 'Smokescreen' Covert Ops Cloaking Device II Blueprint. These are still the most advanced today. Considering the evidence of the shield improvements made from Talocan artifacts and the shield systems they used in w-space we may be able to assume this is then also the case for cloaking technology. To prove that the Talocan had their own cloaking devices will be very difficult. These devices are most likely to be found on their ships and most ships discovered have been stripped from most if not all systems leaving only a semi intact hull. This leaves very little hope for us to conclusively prove the Talocan's ability to cloak and even if we find a Talocan ship that is still intact it might not provide us with any evidence. The Empires today mostly only use cloaks on ships specialized for covert operations and without knowing the full range of Talocan vessels it appears to be a futile exercise. As a final note on the possible existence of Talocan cloaking technology. If the Talocan did posses it, it is possible that there may be Talocan ships or structures out there in the void of w-space that are protected by a cloak and undetectable to us. While most of the Talocan structures are in a terrible shape some are still relatively intact and some systems still shows signs of being capable of operation while others seem to have only failed fairly recently. As a result some functioning ships or structures may still be hidden and waiting. Talocan Static Gate

Rsearch projects:See also: Arek'Jaalan Library Once research has resulted in new facts, it must be properly documented for future reference and implementation. Similarly, the results of tested hypotheses will be documented. Documentation protocols for research results will be drafted by a Chief Archivist. Theoretical DataSee also: Arek'Jaalan: Talocan Technology Theories Much is still unknown about the technological capability of the Talocan or the purpose of their structures. Without hard truths, it is necessary to theorize and hypothesize to find the correct pursuit and make discoveries. To that end, one of the duties of TT is to share and refine those theories and hypotheses regarding that which we have yet to prove.
