Mission Description
Before we move on to more advanced scanning, I want to explain a few things about the different types of areas you can find out here. Firstly, the method of scanning determines the result. On-Board scanners like the one you just used can only find Cosmic Anomalies. The other method of scanning, which uses special scanning probes, is used to find Cosmic Signatures.
There are many different types of signatures, and we're going to show each of them to you next.
Inside anomalies you won't find anything other than people to fight, but other hidden areas can have very different treasures inside: untapped asteroids for you to mine, ancient ruins to sift amongst, valuable salvage to recover, secret data facilities to hack into -- there is a great deal out there for an explorer to uncover.
Before we get to finding it all though, it will help you to first understand the different types of sites you can find; what each offers, and what each asks of you in return.
We've set up a training facility that will help you in this task. If you are ready to learn more, then we can show you some exaples of what you might find out there, without you having to risk your ship in combat or learn how to scan these signatures down. Once you have an understanding of them, we will progress to that.
