ACT YC110 November:Protracted Warfare and Single Largest Battleship Loss of YC110 in VNGJ-U

Protracted warfare in and around VNGJ-U in Feythabolis took place against a background of the Against ALL Authorities alliance's decision to conclude a pact with Band of Brothers against the GoonSwarm alliance. This startling change in the diplomatic scene did not result in any lack of allies for GoonSwarm when it came to defending their holdings in Feythabolis and indeed may have redoubled the determination of some of their allies. Forces from Kraftwerk, Rebellion Alliance and Tau Ceti Federation aided the GS forces. For their part, Triple A could count on allies as diverse as COVEN, RED Overlord, Stain Empire and Systematic Chaos. Heavy fighting across almost a fortnight was seen in VNGJ-U, with the subcapital battle of 110.11.19 notable for a terrible toll of battleship losses across all sides, with 258 battleships destroyed in total – the greatest single loss of battleships in any one system in a single's day's fighting during YC110. In terms of overall ships and capsules lost, the attackers suffered losses of 280 as against the defender's losses of 330. In another major battle on 110.11.24, a total of 52 capital ships were lost alongside almost 70 battleships. In this instance, the attacking forces lost 5 carriers and 25 dreadnoughts, while the defenders lost 22 dreadnoughts. One large starbase was also lost by the defenders, together with a small starbase. However, with the balance of capital losses in GoonSwarm's favour and reinforcements available in large numbers the Triple A effort to conquer this system appears to have bogged down. A number of further battles with significant numbers of battleships being destroyed, alongside fewer capital losses, did not progress the conquest significantly and ultimately the GoonSwarm defence was successful with the sovereignty of VNGJ-U remaining secure for the remainder of the year.
