As the first major strike in the Band of Brother alliance's new 'MAXimum Damage' campaign, the battleship engagements in the key Deklein systems of VFK-IV and 2R-CRW attracted significant attention. Held by Imperial Republic of the North [IRON] alliance, the systems were defended by cynosural jamming arrays which necessarily were the primary targets of the BoB assault. With a rumoured capital force of 400-plus, the BoB and allied forces of the Greater BoB Community [GBC] were nevertheless forced to mount a subcapital assault by the presence of the IRON cynosural jammers. The initial attack took place in VFK-IV and was met by IRON forces, including an Avatar-class titan that played a key role in repulsing the attack by detonating its doomsday device and destroying much of the BoB assault force.
A second attempt on the VFK-IV cynosural jammer was made some hours later and again repulsed by the IRON Avatar, this time supported by a Nyx-class mothership. After these setbacks, the BoB forces switched their attentions to the adjacent 2R-CRW system, likely counting on the inability of IRON to deploy their supercapital assets in the jammed system. However, IRON commanders had called in allied forces from the Red and Pure. alliances. The combined defence forces were again able to repel the BoB assault in conventional combat.
After three major battles, across two systems, the BoB and allied forces withdrew, leaving IRON and its allies with a clear victory. Despite being a significant setback, this early defeat by no means signalled the end of BoB's 'MAX' campaign.
